Systems Thinker
Chose Rust for the financial layer specifically because GC pauses were unacceptable in a real-money transaction path. Not because it was trendy.
West Bengal → World
I build backend systems from scratch and scale them to thousands.
Curiosity-driven. Production-tested.
Chose Rust for the financial layer specifically because GC pauses were unacceptable in a real-money transaction path. Not because it was trendy.
Built and balanced a virtual economy for 59,028 people. Inflation prevention, exploit detection, reward psychology — applied, not academic.
Migrated through six database systems over five years — each migration triggered by a real failure, not a tutorial recommendation.
The Person
I'm Sudip Roy — systems engineer from West Bengal, India. I go by drlove online. I build things because I need them to exist, then scale them until they can't be ignored.
2016
Curiosity Sparked
How video games worked → hacking Wi-Fi → first systems lesson.
2018
Game Engines
Unity, Unreal Engine — realized backend was more interesting than rendering.
2019
Worldwide Born
Co-founded a Discord community. First Python bot. First DB: a JSON file.
2020
B.Sc. CS Begins
University of Calcutta. Theory met practice — the bot was already handling thousands.
2022
The Rust Pivot
Rewrote the data layer in Rust. GC pauses were unacceptable for real-money transactions.
2023
Pattern Pursuit
Final year project: prediction game. Rust + Actix + Redis + AWS.
2024
M.Sc. & Beyond
Pursuing M.Sc. CS. Worldwide at scale. Looking for the next challenge.
The interests that don't look like CS but completely inform how I build systems:
Chess
Long-term tradeoffs & positional thinking
Factorio
Logistics optimization & resource flow
Economics
Market dynamics & incentive design
Geopolitics
Systems thinking at civilizational scale
Psychology
User behavior & decision architecture
Philosophy
First-principles reasoning
